Proudly crafted in our headquarters in Brazil, the Custom Shop is the most iconic and traditional line from Odery Drums. It’s where our story began back in the 1990s, when the visionary Mr. Odery turned his backyard into a workshop to create one-of-a-kind drum kits. His mission? To build instruments that would become true extensions of each drummer’s soul.
The Custom Shop isn’t just a drum kit—it’s the embodiment of dreams. Each kit is handcrafted by a dedicated team of artisans using premium woods and top-quality materials. Every detail is carefully considered to deliver excellence, personality, and exclusivity.
With the Custom Shop line, the possibilities are endless. Drummers have complete freedom to customize every aspect of their kit: finishes, dimensions, hardware, and even the specific wood veneer selection. This process results in a kit that reflects the musician’s essence, style, and passion.
It’s no surprise that these instruments are true works of art. Created with love and attention to the finest details, each drum kit is born from a collaborative process between our artisans and the dreams of every customer. The result? A unique sound, an unparalleled experience, and an instrument that carries the drummer’s soul in every beat.
Choosing an Odery Custom means embracing a tradition of excellence and creativity. Turn your dream into reality with a drum kit as unique as you are.
The Custom Shop production process was meticulously crafted by Mr. Odery over 30 years ago and continues to be refined and improved to create even better instruments for drummers. Every step is done by hand, always respecting the natural timing of each stage. We don’t use machines to speed up production, ensuring that each drummer receives a truly 100% handmade instrument
The first step in building a Custom kit is selecting the wood that will shape your drums. Drummers are welcome to visit our factory and handpick the exact wood veneer they want. After exploring the different textures, tones, and grain patterns, you can choose between Teak and Araucaria—sustainably sourced Brazilian woods known for their striking grain, rich color variations, and unique sound qualities.
We also offer imported wood options like Maple and Birch, available with pre-defined finishes.
At this stage, the veneers are carefully placed into molds to form the drum shells. Time is crucial here, as each veneer needs to remain in the mold for 14 to 24 hours—depending on weather conditions—and each drum can consist of two to eight veneers.
The drying process happens naturally; we don’t use any mechanical acceleration. This preserves the handcrafted essence and ensures the highest level of quality by respecting the natural curing time
Once fully dried, the shells undergo treatment on both the inner and outer surfaces. This is a meticulous process involving precise adjustments, roughness control, and surface preparation to eliminate imperfections and create a perfectly smooth and even shell.
Every detail matters at this stage, as it sets the foundation for a flawless paint finish in the next step.
This is where the drum starts to take on its identity. The painting stage is one of the most important parts of the process, as it’s where the artisan brings the drummer’s dream finish to life.
Each type of finish requires dedicated craftsmanship. The application of product and sanding are done repeatedly, one drum at a time—always allowing the drying process to happen naturally.
An interesting fact: the materials we use for our drum finishes are the same ones used in aircraft painting.
Once the painting is complete, it’s time for fine finishing. This involves another round of sanding, this time focusing on the inner shell and bearing edges.
The process varies depending on the type of finish. Drums with a glossy finish go through a polishing process similar to automotive detailing, giving them a deep, mirror-like shine. Drums with a matte finish skip the polishing step and move straight to drilling, followed by a protective layer of varnish.
This step might seem simple, but it holds special significance for us. All the machinery and templates used here were developed by Mr. Odery over two decades ago, carrying the brand’s history and essence.
At this stage, we manually map out the shells, carefully marking and drilling the points where the drum hardware (such as lugs, mounts, and legs) will be installed.
Precision is key—one misplaced hole could mean discarding the shell and starting the entire process from scratch.
This is where the dream takes its final shape! Once everything is ready, we polish the drums and install the hardware, such as lugs, eyelets, hoops, heads, and of course, the iconic Odery Custom badge.
And just like that, a unique instrument is born—a one-of-a-kind drum kit that was once just a drummer’s dream, now brought to life.
There’s no way to fully describe the satisfaction and pride we feel when we see drummers’ reactions upon receiving their new kit. Our hope is that every drummer experiences this moment at least once in their life.
Araucaria
We have the privilege of being the only ones in the world to work with Araucaria, which has allowed us to conquer the international market, showcasing a wood rich in both beauty and sound quality.
With its long, subtle grains and light color, its appearance is incredibly refined and classic.
The sound of Araucaria is pure, with crystal-clear harmonics, a full-bodied low end, and a moderate, balanced volume.
Birch/Maple
Birch is a wood known for its low midrange frequencies, delivering a clean, controlled sound with minimal overtones. It offers a more focused and punchy tone. On the other hand, Maple provides a balanced and even sound, rich in frequencies, with plenty of attack and volume. It suits any musical style, offering a full, dynamic range.
Made from solid brass and individually turned, our lugs offer unmatched durability, excellent finish, and the assurance that they will never rust. They feature precise, thick threads that won’t strip over time or with use. The pin inside the base is movable, allowing it to adjust to any hoop and drilling pattern.
These are the lugs used on the Eyedentity drums, featuring a beautiful design and made from die-cast injection. They have a bridge along their length, minimizing contact with the shell, which helps the drum resonate more freely. The snare lug is hollow, allowing you to see the internal mechanism.
Made from 2.3mm stamped steel, these hoops provide more precise tuning and increased volume on rim-shots for snare drums.
Made from a thick zinc alloy, these hoops ensure precise tuning with excellent volume and attack on rim-shots. They also help reduce excess harmonics, giving the sound a more controlled and focused tone.
This hoop provides a pure and natural sound with a mid-bass tone, free from metallic overtones. On snare drums, the rimshot delivers extreme volume with varying tones across different areas. When playing rim clicks with the stick on the hoop, it produces a more “percussive” sound.
The hardware made by Odery comes with a chrome finish as the standard. However, you can choose a special coating for all hardware components that involve the drums (lugs, mounts, bass drum legs, claws, strainer, etc.). Available finishes include:
We offer high-quality drum customization and refurbishment services, including for drums from other brands. Our main services include special lacquers (such as sparkle and airbrushing), wrapping, inlays, shell cuts, recesses, drilling, facings, lug replacement, and hardware repairs.
Since 2008, the company has enhanced its painting process in partnership with a leading paint manufacturer, bringing more technology and quality to our work. Additionally, we have an advanced, eco-friendly paint booth, setting us apart in the musical instrument market.
Painting services are the most sought after, and Odery ensures complete customization to make your kit exactly how you envision it, using top-quality materials and expert craftsmanship.

As this is a handcrafted process that goes through several natural drying stages, the production time depends on various factors such as the quantity, size and types of drums, finish type, weather conditions, and more. On average, the production takes about 50 business days.
The Custom kit does not have a fixed price, as the cost depends on the drum configurations, lugs, hoops, finish, and accessories. Prices start at R$ 13,000.00 for a shell pack and R$ 1,880.00 for snare drums.
