Kind of different, right? The idea here was to play and read at the same time (if you can ). All joking aside, the idea was to have newsprint as the finish of the instrument. We coated it with a natural lacquer, as protection against the natural yellowing of paper. But, we have to admit, when we first displayed this drum at the NAMM show, a drummer from Japan came by, started to look at it, and laugh. I asked him what was wrong. He was laughing really hard, then he said: “It’s upside down! Hahaha…” Our bad, maybe we should have studied some Japanese first.
The snare on the photo also features hardware in Black Nickel NO Gloss with power hoops and vintage lugs.
